Dr. Jennie Alexander

I became a Chiropractor to shift my community from a state of surviving to THRIVING!

dr-alexanderMy first job was with a Chiropractor in high school. I worked as an assistant in the office and learned so much about the human body. That experience is was what sparked my interest in Anatomy and Physiology that carried into my college career. During undergrad, I showed horses with the Collegiate Equestrian Team. Having been bucked off a few wily horses, I found myself back in a Chiropractor’s office. I remember asking him how much schooling it took to become a Chiropractor. When he told me 8 years of college, I’m pretty sure my eyes almost popped out of my head. At that time, I felt like I had been in school forever so I decided the extra schooling wasn’t worth it. Little did I know, I would be climbing that mountain a few years down the road.

Having graduated just after the stock market crash in 2008, I found getting a job with my degree pretty daunting. So, I did what the typical college graduate with no plan did, and moved back home. I asked my parents for a position in their business and they happily obliged. So, I was a graduate with a Bachelors degree in Agriculture working as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in my family’s funeral home. It’s been an interesting life I tell ya.

I ended up working with them for 5 years. During this time I lost a handful of friends, and loved ones. After 4 years, I realized that this life was not what I wanted. On call 24/7, missing birthdays, Christmas dinners, working every weekend. Not to mention the emotional strain that resulted from trying to hold strangers together and help guide them through possibly the hardest time of their lives.

I remember sitting at my desk thinking, “If I could do anything, what would it be?” That’s when Chiropractic once again resurfaced in my head. I realized that with Chiropractic, I would be able to help people who suffer from pain, injury, and health issues. I could help reduced the horrifying side effects that result from multiple medications and allow families to create more happy memories resulting in more Life Celebrations rather than Family Losses and Funerals. I was on the wrong end of the spectrum, and it was time for a life altering change.

Educational Experience

I received my Chiropractic education at Life Chiropractic University in Marietta, Georgia. This is the top Chiropractic University in the world, offering the most electives and techniques in Chiropractic. I was very blessed in my chiropractic education being able to travel the world with Chiropractic. Representing the profession in Switzerland with the World Health Organization, to serving on several mission trips from Mexico to Africa. I learned that if you have something as powerful as Chiropractic, you cannot keep it a secret. When you are in a village in the middle of Africa, and mothers are carrying their children for miles just so I can check and adjust them, it is a life altering experience.

Upon Graduating from Chiropractic school, I completed the Animal Chiropractic course offered at Parker University now empowering me with the knowledge to help our four legged babies as well.

Outside the Office

Having just moved to the Madison area I am always looking for new places to visit and things to explore, so when you come into the office please feel free to give any suggestions of your favorite places and things to do.

My boyfriend and I have 3 dogs. A Great Dane named Darla, a blue heeler named Sadie aka “Doodle” and a Weiner dog named Gordon. We like a little variety in our lives.

My Health Habits

Chiropractors have spines too. I get adjusted at least once a week to ensure I am as healthy as I can be so I can better serve my patients. I workout 4 to 5 times a week, and use a trainer to ensure that my movements are correct and that I am protecting my body. I avoid junk food and am always working to give my body the best I can.

One of my favorite quotes is by Thomas Edison, ” The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and the cause and prevention of disease.”
